How PSLE Scoring Works (AL System)
Since 2021, PSLE has used Achievement Levels (AL) instead of T-scores. Each of the 4 subjects — English, Mathematics, Science, and Mother Tongue — is scored on a scale of AL1 (best) to AL8 (weakest). Your child's total PSLE Score is the sum of all 4 subjects, so the range runs roughly from 4 (best possible) to 32. Lower is better.
Posting Groups: What Replaced Streaming
Express, Normal (Academic), and Normal (Technical) no longer exist. Under Full Subject-Based Banding, students are placed into one of 3 Posting Groups based on their PSLE Score, which sets their starting subject levels (G1, G2, or G3) in Secondary 1:

Posting Group 3 — maps to the old Express standard, most subjects start at G3

Posting Group 2 — maps to the old Normal (Academic) standard, most subjects start at G2

Posting Group 1 — maps to the old Normal (Technical) standard, most subjects start at G1
Unlike the old streams, Posting Groups only guide the starting point — students can move up in individual subjects they're strong in from Secondary 1 onward. Exact score cut-offs are published by MOE each year, so check the official S1 posting page closer to results day for this year's ranges.

If your child took part in DSA-Sec, school allocation is released together with the PSLE results. Otherwise, the S1 posting exercise begins once results are out.
